    RIP

"China’s worst earthquake for 30 years killed over 10,000 people in Sichuan province on Monday, with more feared dead in mountainous areas cut off by landslides, power failures and the collapse of telephone networks." - FT.com May 13 2008

Rubble of Juyuan Middle School in Dujiangyan city

Rescuers search for victims in the debris of a hospital after the earthquake in Dujiangyan, 12 May 2008

i was sitting in the office typing, when all the sudden a strange nauseous feeling struck my chest. i had no idea it was an earthquake, untill 10 mins later all the phones started to ring off the hook. by the time when i got home last night, the death toll was merely 107. damn, i thought, at least the merde didn't hit the fan, at least we're not as unlucky as those poor souls in burma.

but guess what, the death toll multiplied by 10 over the night. it hit 10,000 by the morning, with more than 3 remote mountainous areas being totally destroyed and cut off from any communication from the outside world. rumour has it, the local military took a while before deploying. by the time they got there, children were pinned down under the ruins of their school and have been inhaling dusts for over an hour.

so why there is no precaution released by the national earthquake administration? with this question in mind i tried the official website of the CEA, but it is no longer accessible at this point. i can imagine millions of angry souls are trying to log on to this website wanting to see what the agency of a country that invented the world's first earthquake detector has to say about all this. somebody deserves a fucking rocket up the ass.

    RIP my fellow country wo/men
